ESSEX YACHT CLUB
ESSEX YACHT CLUB WAS FOUNDED IN 1933 ON THE PRINCIPLES OF FRIENDSHIP AND A DEEP LOVE OF YACHTING. THEN AS NOW, OUR HOPE IS TO FOSTER A COMMUNITY OF ENTHUSIASTIC INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES BROUGHT TOGETHER THROUGH THEIR ENJOYMENT OF THE BOATING EXPERIENCE.

RACING
Since its founding in 1933 by a group of friends interested in creating a permanent home for the Frostbite regatta, Essex Yacht Club has been a hub of racing activity. Annually, the club sponsors the Wetherill oceangoing race and Rum Challenge race in the Essex River. Members also enjoy weekly regattas in the club’s Ideal 18s, including as part of our Women’s and Juniors sailing programs.

CRUISING
Located along the banks of the Connecticut River in charming Essex, with easy access to the Long Island Sound, EYC provides an idyllic setting for docking and mooring. Members enjoy camaraderie dockside, as well as opportunities to cruise solo or as part of the club’s active summer cruising program. Visitors from clubs with which the Club has reciprocal arrangements are warmly welcomed.

INSTRUCTION
In keeping with its mission to promote excellence in yachting activities among its members, EYC has developed a strong women’s sailing program designed to increase the skills and confidence of women sailors of all skill levels. The club also runs an advanced sailing program designed to prepare junior sailors to step into college sailing.
