CRUISING

With the Long Island Sound and the New England Coast as our playground, the Club offers members many opportunities to cruise together each year. Typically docking at clubs with which we share reciprocity, we will enjoy dinner and socializing before cruising to our next port of call.

  • MEMORIAL DAY CRUISE
    Saturday , May 23 to Monday, May 25

    We will be cruising to the Stonington Harbor Yacht Club (SHYC) for Memorial Day weekend.

    You may arrive by boat or land cruiser.

    Saturday evening:
    We will share cocktails at 6pm with an artisan cheese board followed by dinner together at the SHYC. 

    Sunday lunch:
    A culinary free-roam or assembly at the Winecrest Eatery inside the Old Velvet Mill (0.8 mi. away 22 Bayview Ave.)

    Sunday afternoon:
    Burn off our lunch with a private historic walking tour of Stonington Borough. Meet at the Lighthouse Museum, 7 Water Street at 2:45pm ($15pp)

  • UNITED SOCIAL SATURDAYS (USS) CRUISE

    We will cruise to Mitchel Marina or Safe Harbor in Greenport, NY.

    North Fork Wine Tours (631) 913-3817 ($119-$140/pp) tasting 2-3 wineries and a gourmet lunch. Please make your own reservations.

  • UNITED SOCIAL SATURDAYS (USS) CRUISE

    Overnight cruise to Montauk.

    Cruisers can and anchoring in Montauk Lake or stay in a slip.

  • UNITED SOCIAL SATURDAYS (USS) CRUISE

    We will be cruising to 3 Mile Harbor to see Bastille Day Fireworks hosted by The Clamshell Foundation.

    Please make your own reservations through Dockwa (Apr. 1) at Mile Harbor Moorings or Shagwong Marina or Maidstone Harbor Marina slips.

  • UNITED SOCIAL SATURDAYS (USS) CRUISE

    We will cruise to Fishers Island and stay at the Yacht Club.

    Cocktails.

    Rent bikes or SUPs and visit the Ferguson Museum to learn about the Island history.

    Have oysters or lobsters delivered to your boat!

    Please make your own reservations through Dockwa and mention you are with the EYC as they have blocked off dock space for EYC boats.

  • UNITED SOCIAL SATURDAYS (USS) CRUISE

    We will be cruising to Sachem's Head.

  • EYC ANNUAL SUMMER CRUISE

    We will be cruising to Camden and mooring at the YC, or Lyman-Morse Marina.

    Dinner at the Vintage Room.

    Land cruisers may opt to stay at the Camden Maine Stay Inn, Hideaway Inn Maine, or Grand Harbor Inn.

    Please make your own reservations.

    Walk, hike, climb Mt. Battie, listen to an afternoon concert, or stroll the streets' many artisan shops.

  • EYC ANNUAL LABOR DAY CRUISE

    Cruise by boat or by land to Newport.

    We will cruise to Sag Harbor.

CLUB MOORINGS & RECIPROCITY

Club Moorings

While cruising, members may enjoy free use of club moorings at Hamburg Cove, Great Salt Pond in Block Island, Sag Harbor and North Haven. These moorings are available for up to two nights on a first-come, first-served basis to members flying the club burgee. Locations of the club moorings are as follows:

  • The Hamburg Cove mooring is located near the wood pier on the south side of the anchorage.

  • Look for mooring #175, a blue mooring ball marked "ESSEX". It is located on the west side of the fairway as you enter Great Salt Pond, opposite a large grey house at 41.11.344 N and 71.34.984 W.

  • Both moorings are white balls with a blue stripe and are marked "EYC".

    Mooring E-2 is located inside the breakwater and directly across from the steel town pier, 300 yards south of the breakwater tip at 41.00.376 N and 72.17.641 W.

    Mooring #11 is also inside the breakwater, but on the North Haven Peninsula side, 200 yards west of the 1st red nun (#2) at 41.00.542 N and 72.17.878 W.

Reciprocal Privileges

Also while cruising, members may enjoy the use of facilities at other yacht clubs that offer corresponding courtesies to our members. If necessary, letters of introduction can be arranged through the Club office. Click the button below for a list of reciprocal clubs.
