ESSEX YACHT CLUB
A Proud History of Promoting Yachting, Sailing and Amateur Seamanship
Essex Yacht Club was founded in 1933 on the principles of friendship and a deep love of yachting.
Then, as now, our hope is to foster a community of enthusiastic individuals and families
brought together through their enjoyment of the boating experience.
RACING
Since 1933, when the club was founded as a permanent home for the Frostbite regatta, EYC has been a hub of racing activity. Each year, the Club sponsors two signature races, the Wetherill and the Rum Challenge, and hosts a full calendar of events utilizing our fleet of Ideal 18s. Many Club members also participate with great success in local, regional, and international races.
CRUISING
Nestled along the banks of the beautiful Connecticut River in charming Essex, a short distance from the Long Island Sound, EYC’S docks and moorings are an idyllic starting or waypoint for adventures on the water. Members enjoy camaraderie dockside, the opportunity to join the club’s summer cruising programs, and exchanging tales of trips throughout New England and around the world.
WOMEN’S SAILING
In keeping with its mission to promote excellence in yachting activities among its members, EYC has developed a strong Women’s Sailing program. The program is designed to increase the skills and confidence of women sailors, from beginning to advanced skill levels.
VISITING THE CLUB
Situated along the banks of the Connecticut River in the historic Essex village, our newly renovated Clubhouse boasts beautiful waterfront views featuring the harbor, natural marshland, and abundant birdlife. From our dining, meeting, and event spaces, members and their guests can enjoy on-water activity and camaraderie year-round.
The mission of the Essex Yacht Club is to promote excellence in yachting activities among its members, including racing, cruising and off-water club activities. To accomplish this mission, the Club has developed year-round member activities and programs to promote the Corinthian spirit, the fine traditions of yachting excellence, and the camaraderie of friendship.
